CurrentBody Meets Dr. Tadlock - The Clarisonic Interview Part 2

Dr. Lauri Tadlock, a renowned US dermatologist with over 30 years' experience, works with Clarisonic to lend her expertise on caring for the skin to the beauty powerhouse. She is the Vice President of Clinical Research at Clarisonic, Loreal's Centre of Device Research. As one of the world's leading retailers of Clarisonic, we were given exclusive access to sit down with Dr. Tadlock and learn more about how the biggest selling beauty tool in the world can help you.

CB: You are clearly very passionate about skin care, what made Clarisonic so different that you actually ended up working for the Company?

Dr. T: I have been a practicing dermatologist for almost 30 years. I have seen many products make promises over the years – there is always a new “miracle”! The vast majority of the time these are disappointing. When I was initially asked to consult for the company I tried the Clarisonic for the first time before agreeing. I couldn’t believe what a difference it made – gentle and effective cleansing, just as promised! Ultimately, consulting turned into my current role, which I’ve held for 4years, as the VP of Clinical for Clarisonic.

CB: What has been your biggest success story from someone using the device on your recommendation?

Dr. T: There are countless success stories that I hear from patients, friends and family, plus the millions of customers Clarisonic has worldwide. I still maintain an independent dermatology practice and most of my patients are unaware that I work for the company. So I am always pleased when someone asks me if I have heard of the Clarisonic and tells me what a difference it has made for them.

CB: What is the one most important piece of advice you give to a patient who starts using a Clarisonic?

Dr. T: Although we recommend that people use the Clarisonic device twice a day and know that it’s safe and gentle enough to do so, the frequency of use that works best for your skin can vary depending on skin type and lifestyle. People with rosacea or other types of sensitive skin should start slowly. Try using the brush once every three days and gradually increase from there.

CB: Are there any people you don’t recommend Clarisonic to?

Dr. T: No. Clarisonic is safe and gentle, even on the most sensitive skin. The Clarisonic is effective, yet gentle enough to be used twice a day. However, we always suggest if you are under a doctor’s care for any skin condition, please consult with your physician before using the Clarisonic.

CB: We are often asked if the device is safe for teens to use. Would you recommend Clarisonic for young skin?

Dr. T: I do often recommend Clarisonic to my teen patients and believe it’s important for people to learn about great skincare at a young age. CB: Should Clarisonic be used on active acne? Dr. T: We have heard many customer stories of acne-sufferers experiencing an improvement in their skin after using the Clarisonic, however, acne types and severity can vary so it’s always best to first consult with your dermatologist. CB: Have you seen Clarisonic help improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin? Dr. T: Sun damaged skin can appear dry, flaky and dull. Regular cleansing with the Clarisonic can help remove dead skin cells, helping your moisturizer and anti-aging products absorb and work better. Remember, prevention is important and you need to use sunscreen every day. CB: In the UK we are known for being a little slow to embrace change and technology - What do you say to women who are reluctant to use a device as part of their daily routine as it is such a change from their normal procedure? Dr. T: The Clarisonic is amazingly easy to use - just turn it on and go! Once you try it and see the difference in your skin, you will not be able to live without it.
